Well-Together Challenge with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care-Week 2

Sunset NH

As I mentioned last week, I’ve joined Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s Well-Together Challenge that’s going on through the month of October. They’ve paired up local bloggers from around New England to challenge each other in a quest for better health and wellness habits. I’ve been paired with blogger Carrie of Maine Mom on the Run.

I’ve been doing yoga since last Tuesday, ten to twenty minutes per session, at least three to four times per week. This is my challenge from Carrie. How am I feeling? Better! I have more energy, and more clarity in my mind. A bit of inner peace, I suppose. At least until the kids get home from school--then it’s anyone’s game. I have two teenage daughters and two growing boys--there’s bound to be some stressful moments! I know as I do more yoga, I’ll be able to handle the stresses of everyday family life much better. The key in the Well-Together Challenge is to make small changes--not to overwhelm yourself. Small changes lead to big results!

Oh, and the stretches are getting easier, too! My body remembers what it used to love doing.

Please remember to check out Carrie’s blog, Maine Mom on the Run, to see how she’s coming along with my challenge to her--to make healthy meals that the whole family can enjoy, without spending hours in the kitchen. She’s a busy mom, too!

I’ve partnered with Harvard Pilgrim on this sponsored post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. You can find more ways to be well at HarvardPilgrim.org/CountUsIn.

This is a paid post, but as stated above, the thoughts and opinions here are my own.

Nice! I really need to try yoga, but for physical and mental reasons!

What a great challenge. I keep wanting to get into Yoga since I know it would be really great for me. I am so not flexible. I just cannot get past the OMs. What are you using for your 10 - 20 minutes? A video? Book?

Hi Denise--

Thanks for popping in! My favorite yoga dvd is Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss. It's not a quick workout (it's about 40 minutes), but they have four women in the video, all doing various levels of yoga at the same time. It sounds crazy and hard to follow, but it isn't--it's actually very peaceful. You can follow the level that's most comfortable for you, from expert to very low impact. It does allow for really getting to know the poses.

A good friend of mine highly recommends this one: Yoga for Stress Reduction. I haven't tried it yet, but she absolutely loves it.

It really helps to relax you, no matter which one you end up trying--you could even try some online ones, like You Tube, to see if you'd really like it at first. It does help to clear your head, relax you, and energize you throughout the day.
